Peace monuments unveiled to commemorate decade-long peace movement

BALER, Aurora — An international peace organization named Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) celebrated the 10th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace through a series of events across 59 countries including the Philippines for a whole month.

The latest of which is the unveiling ceremony of peace monuments in Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) on Friday (June 2).

In attendance during the unveiling was Dr. Ronald L. Adamat, Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and founding chairman of Volunteer Individuals for Peace (VIP).

The peace monuments bear the logos of ASCOT, HWPL, and VIP to serve as a reminder of their shared commitment to peacebuilding especially through education.

Dr. Adamat said, “this is another milestone in our initiative for the promotion of the culture of peace. I am glad to have this unveiled because this is a sacred place, which I call a Peace Shrine and it adds to the serenity of the place [Ermita Hill]. We’ll continue to do this among the state universities and colleges in the country.”

To date, this is the 10th of its kind erected within a campus, among the 16 HWPL peace monuments all over the country.

Moreover, he announced that the Commission en Banc has recently approved the establishment of peace corners in the libraries of all higher educational institutions, where peace-related reference materials will be accessible to all students and faculty members.

The Peace Walk was also held by partner schools and communities particularly in Lucban, Cotabato City, and Pila and Siniloan, Laguna as an expression of support for HWPL’s 10th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace and Peace Walk.

Moreover, 5,000 participants gathered at the Peace Gate of Seoul Olympic Park in South Korea where “The Declaration of World Peace” was announced on May 25, 2013. The declaration includes a message that emphasizes the role of global citizens, including the presidents of each country, in working toward peace. Three years after, HWPL proclaimed the “Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War” (DPCW) with 10 articles and 38 clauses, which was drafted with the participation of international law experts from 15 countries.

During the events, HWPL established peace booths to boost the signature campaign for the DPCW. By the end of the year, HWPL aims to garner 10 million signatures from individuals who support the legalization of the DPCW, in order to submit it to the United Nations to be implemented as international law.

  1. This is a beautiful post. The fact that one of the five member states of the UN Security Council has launched an invasion of a neighbouring country without repercussions proves that international law and its implementation is weak and in need of reform. The DPCW is the only hope for the cessation of all global hostilities.

I sincerely hope the required number of signatures in support of the DPCW can be gathered and submitted to the UN as soon as possible for ratification as international peace law. Any member state heads who oppose it only expose to their people their desire for war.

I am encouraged by the words of Viktor Yushchenko, former President of Ukraine, who recently said the following:-
“The DPCW is a perfect and balanced document that can be the basis of solidarity for peacekeeping in all countries of the world. I think all the leaders of the countries should support the DPCW."

    May peace prevail!

A mouse 🐭

A “mouse” was put at the top of a jar filled with grains. He was so happy to find so much food around him that no longer he felt the need to run around searching for food and now he could happily live his life. After a few days of enjoying the grains, he reached the bottom of the jar. Now he was trapped and he couldn't get out of it. He now has to solely depend upon someone to put grains in the same jar for him to survive. He also may not get the grain of his choice and he cannot choose either. Here are a few lessons to learn from this: 1) Short term pleasures can lead to long-term traps (living on benefits/furlough/spoilt by parents perhaps?). 2) If things are coming easy and you are getting comfortable, you are getting trapped into dependency. 3) When you are not using your skills, you will lose more than your skills. You lose your CHOICES and FREEDOM. 4) Freedom does not come easy but can be lost very quickly. NOTHING comes easily in life and if it comes easily, m...
